Welcome to the "2017 Fall Semester" League Portal

Dear Students,

The ability to play and teach the game at a high level is what separates you in the golf industry.  As a PGA Professional staff, we always look at new ways to increase your skill level in both areas.  We will continue to support this objective through the 2017 Fall semester with the Mississippi State PGA Golf Management Player Program.

This fall, the three “major” events you have grown accustomed to will continue to be PGA Golf Management program events.  Zach, the Board, and I will be working closely together to conduct quality events throughout the fall semester.

If you have not passed your Playing Ability Test, you are required to play in each of the three “major” events; each being a 36-hole stroke play golf tournament.  If you have passed your Playing Ability Test, you are required to play in a minimum of two of the three “major” events of your choice.

Additionally, you will be held to a standard of play in these program events.  At the end of the semester, all students must submit at least one tournament round score of 83 or below.  Failure to achieve the scoring standard will result in a PGA Golf Management probation.  If you have submitted a handicap of 8 or below, this should not be a difficult task to accomplish.  This number is consistent with PGA of America standards related to acceptable playing standards for registration in the PGA/PGM Program.

There will be no entry fee for Program events (major championships).  The PGM Club will offer a “Player’s Pool” where prize money, in the form of cash/gift cards, will be awarded to top finishers in each event.  Entering the Player’s Pool is not required but if you would like to win prize money, you must enter.  Player of the Semester Points and PGA Jones Cup qualifying will be awarded for finishes in program events. Additionally, the PGM Club will offer 18-hole tournaments throughout the semester. These events will also earn points toward Player of the Semester and be used in PGA Jones Cup qualifying. There is a nominal entry fee for these events.

We look forward to the semester.  We are one of the most active programs in the country when it comes to playing and this program will take it to the next level.  Please review this packet and be sure to mark your calendar accordingly.

Sincerely,
